Roja's skirt show kicks up row

Telugu Desam mahila wing president Roja might be campaigning against attacks on young college girls and for women's self-esteem now, but it was she who had started "skirt show" in Telugu films, leading to indecent depiction of women in films in the name of glamour.

This was the comment made by Praja Rajyam mahila leader Shobha Rani, who till recently served as a member of Censor Board. She said the Telugu Desam had lost its credibility and respect towards women, when Roja was made the Telugu Mahila president.

Apparently, PRP leadership has pitched Shobha Rani, a loud-mouth character, to tackle unending criticism by Roja against Chiranjeevi.

Hitherto, there was none in PRP who could react to criticism from mahila leaders of other parties like Roja and Ganga Bhavani (Mahila Congress chief).

Shobha Rani's criticism has kicked up a lot of heat and dust in Telugu Desam circles. Though Roja did not make any counter statement, she is said to be struggling to rebut this criticism. Other TD leaders, however, reacted strongly saying if Shobha Rani was so much concerned about skin show, how could she allow much vulgar display of women in the recent films. "Roja did not do any vulgar scenes. She was only glamorous. But Shobha Rani had blindly passed several ugly scenes in the recent past," they criticized.
